DRIVING TO TAMAN NEGARA From Kuala Lumpur you will have to take the Kuantan Highway. Exit at Mentakab ( 2 hours drive ) From Mentakab, head north to Jerantut town (45 minute drive). It take another 50 minute drive (70 kilometers) to Kuala Tahan ( Taman Negara). Be careful driving along this stretch as the road are rough. Normal car can handle this road but it would be better with a four wheel drive. Drive right ahead to Kuala Tahan. After about 2 hours on the road look for the jetty to Mutiara Taman Negara. Park your car at the jetty and take the boat ride to Mutiara Taman Negara. From Kuala Tahan the boat ride to Mutiara Taman Negara is at RM1.00 per person. It takes about 10 minutes to cross the river by boat. CAR PARKING FACILITIES AT KUALA TAHAN Parking
Charges : RM5.00 per vehicle per entry. Alternatively, if you intend to travel by boat via Kuala Tembeling, please proceed on to Kuala Tembeling Jetty Point which is approximately 16 Kilometers north(20 minute drive). Charges : RM5.00 per vehicle per entry. Other Transportation : There are public buses and taxis plying between Kuala Lumpur and Jerantut regularly. Taxi service is available from Kuala Lumpur, Johor bahru and Singapore to Jerantut. BY RAIL Train services are available from Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. The train passes Kuala Tembeling and Jerantut. Express train does not stop at Kuala Tembeling. Please proceed on to Jerantut and find a taxi to Kuala Tembeling. If the train you take stops at Kuala Tembeling. From Kuala Tembeling train station, the Kuala Tembeling Jetty is located about half-hour walk. PERMIT & LICIENCES As Taman Negara is a restricted area, all visitors must be in possession of an entry permit. You are there fore requested to bring your identification papers ( passport or identity card) as well as photocopies, to obtain the permit. Licience for camera, video camera and fishing are also required. These may be obtained for a fee at the Department of Wildlife Office, located at the Kuala Tembeling Jetty for your convenience.
